My Opinion on the play//updated weekly//as the play is read//thoughts changing throughout the play.

My first opinion on the first look. 30/10/17

First look at the play was in lesson one, we read scene one and two. In the first scene I found that I related to the characters. _______ seemed like a nice guy at first but as the scene progressed and the severity of what was happening unfolded he seemed to turn in to more of a bad person, who cared more about money then he did about the people living in his apartment. _____ seemed like he was trying too hard to be cool and nice at the beginning and this didn't hold up for long.
Cathy seemed like a hardworking woman who was struggling, we learned that she was once with a man and that it didn't work out we know he doesn't live with them anymore and she throws away his post.
______ is in school and she is doing her homework. She seems slightly rude to _____ but then again nice to her mother, Cathy. She seems like she understands a lot but her mother shields her from some truths.

In scene two, we meet Cathy's father who I believe has some form of dementia. He seems to think that Cathy is her sister and that she is the one who visits him. But they explain its Cathy not her sister and then he finds out Cathy is getting evicted but doesn't understand.

Third and fourth scene 6/11/17

Today we read scenes 3 and 4. We decided that scene 3 was important and in the final production we would keep it and that it definitely needed to be in the play. We spoke about how brekt theatre could help to present this piece. Scene 3 was about Cathy going to the council to get her accommodation and they gave her something temporary in Luton which was nowhere near where she lived in London. Making it hard for her to get Danielle to school, who would be taking her GCSE’s the following year. She wasn’t happy with her place in Luton but was accepting it because otherwise she would’ve  been making herself intentionally homeless. I learned things I didn’t know about council housing that has enlightened me to things that happen.
